My philosophy of teaching - Kindergarten level

My philosophy of teaching.

To begin with, as a teacher to be, I have great expectations to become an outstanding professor. I know that it will not be easy and it will take a long time to find out my own identity as a teacher. When I took the decision to do the study English teaching training course,I became aware of the responsibility that it meant. With respect to my goals, I have been working on the kind of the teacher that I want to be. I try to improve day after day and if I make mistakes, I try to correct them to avoid them in future.

On the one hand, as regards the approach I take to teaching and learning, I can say that I have been constructing my knowledge through different theories and principles and above all, I have learnt a lot from the interaction with children and other teachers. During my practicums, I used several methods but that was has been the most useful was repetition. It helped children to incorporate new vocabulary and structures. Moreover, the principle of motivation was another relevant tool that I introduced in my lessons. I could observe that when I praised kids for doing their jobs well, they were motivated to go on.

On the other hand, it is important to add that during my practicums, I received important, fundamental feedback from my tutor, the headmaster and the course teacher.  It was a great help for me as it was my first time teaching young students.  For instance, in my first lesson, the headmaster made me aware of the fact that flashcards had to have animated pictures in order to catch students´ attention.  For the second class, I enhanced the flashcards and I could see their positive effect. In this sense, I realized how important corrections and feedback were.

All in all, my practicums were a challenge because I had to put everything that I learnt into practice. The practicums were truly profitable for my learning because I strongly believe that I could learn a lot from the experience.  During the lessons, I observed that the children enjoyed the activities. As a consequence, I felt completely happy.
